Add Library Search Options to your Browser's Built-in Search Box
Learn how to add library catalog and 360 search options to IE's or Firefox's built-in search box.
Newer versions of the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers feature a built-in search box with options for searching Google, Yahoo, and other services right from the browser. By default, the built-in search box in both browsers is located in the upper right corner of the browser window, to the right of the address bar where URLs are displayed.
Cline Library offers two search options that can easily be added to your browser's search box, so that at any time you can search for library resources directly from the browser:
- A "Cline Library Catalog Search" that you can use to search by keyword for books, media items, and other library holdings. For more information on searching the catalog by keyword, see the help topic.
- A "Cline Library 360 Search" that you can use to search a collection of major research databases (Academic Search Premier, Project Muse, and ScienceDirect, among others). For more information about 360 Search, see the help topic.
Adding these library search options to IE or Firefox is easy. From this page, locate the built-in search box in the upper right corner of your browser window, and follow the instructions below:
