- Biography/History
- Tad Nichols graduated from the University of Arizona with degrees in geology and anthropology. While in Tucson, he also studied photography; later he continued these studies with Ansel Adams and Brett Weston. He often worked as a scientific photographer. In June, 1950, Nichols ran the San Juan and Colorado rivers through Glen Canyon, serving as a cameraman for a Los Angeles television producer. Nichols continued to explore Glen Canyon and made thirty trips through Glen Canyon between 1950-1963. Nichols' photographs have been published in books and periodicals, including Natural history, U.S. camera, Arizona highways and National geographic.
